About Retina Rumble
The Retina Rumble was started back in 2010, when Dave and Leslie Greene decided that they weren't going to just sit back and wait. You see Leslie was diagnosed with a rare eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa back in 2000. A disease that over time would diminish any night vision, then move on to her peripheral vision before affecting her central vision, which in return could leave her fully blind. At the young age of 20, she was feeling helpless, not knowing what her future would now hold. Currently there is no cure. The Foundation Fighting Blindness is working on several promising treatments. They all need a lot of time and a lot of funding!
That's where the Retina Rumble comes in. Dave and Leslie wanted to help raise money, and being the motorcycle enthusiast that he is, Dave recommended a motorcycle ride to raise the funds! The very first year that they did the ride, they were just hoping to get people there, hope that they had fun, raise a little money and get them to come back the year later, with more friends! The very first year it rained. People came and had fun, played games to raise money and participated in a silent and live auction. That very first year the Retina Rumble team raised $9,000.00!! With tremendous help from their friends and families, along with all the stop sponsors, donators and generous participants, the Retina Rumble has raised over $250,000 to help fund vital research!!!
You don't need a motorcycle to join the ride!! Cars, Trucks, Minivans!! All are welcome!
We won't quit fighting, and we hope that you will fight along with us!! Because a Cure is in Sight!!
